The Autism Cup

Two local soccer clubs join forces for the inaugural Autism Cup
It is with great excitement that Altona ‘Magic’ Soccer Club and Avondale Football Club announce the details of the inaugural Autism Cup being held on Saturday 6th July, at Altona ‘Magic’ Soccer Club grounds, Paisley Park, Altona.
The day showcases the leadership of the two soccer clubs, which developed a strong bond through a common goal of raising awareness of autism, and funds for an organisation that supports children and families living with autism.
The Autism Cup was born from a casual conversation, based on personal experiences between club members, about the challenges surrounding children and families living with autism.
It has ignited a passion in the Altona ‘Magic’ SC and Avondale FC soccer communities, which have dedicated the past two months to creating a showcase event towards a great cause. The Autism Cup has created a sense of unity and purpose for the community.
“It has been truly amazing what has been achieved in such a short period of time through the passion and dedication of our soccer communities,” said Jim Ilievski, President of Altona ‘Magic’ Soccer Club.
The Autism Cup is a gathering of two leading soccer club communities in Melbourne. The event promises a day of fun, activities and focus on raising awareness of autism and has encouraged likeminded people to achieve great things.
The two soccer clubs are working together to raise awareness and inclusion of autism and fundraise for Beyond the Boundary, an organisation focused on delivering soccer programs designed to create a supportive and enjoyable environment for children and families living with autism.
“Avondale FC is passionate about supporting our community to ensure we create opportunities for all to enjoy soccer,” said Anthony Wardan, President, Avondale Football Club.
The day commences at 2:15pm with a kid’s carnival, 4:15pm President’s fundraising function and culminates with the Autism Cup match between Altona Magic Soccer Club and Avondale Football Club senior teams staring at 6:15pm.
“We are overwhelmed by the dedication of the two clubs to help us realise the dream of raising awareness about autism. said Beyond the Boundary Founders Dean and Stefania Del Mastro. “We believe that by raising awareness and promoting acceptance, we can help create a society where individuals with autism can thrive and reach their full potential.”
